Chennai, also known as Madras, is the capital of the southern state of Tamil Nadu. Chennai is India’s fourth-largest city.
Chennai’s economy is based on automobile, technology, hardware manufacturing, and healthcare industries and is India’s second largest exporter of software, information technology (IT) and information-technology-enabled services (ITES).
Chennai also serves as one of the major contributor to the state’s GDP and accounts for 60 per cent of the country’s automotive exports as a major chunk of India’s automobile manufacturing industry is based in and around the city.
The Tamil film industry also known as Kollywood, is based in Chennai.

Chennai International Airport (IATA: MAA) is the third busiest in India . All international flights arrive at Anna Terminal, while the domestic flights arrive at Kamraj Terminal. The two terminals are on the same road and are 150 meters away from each other.
One can easily get private taxi’s and pre-paid taxi to get to the city, each terminal has several booth for several taxi companies when you exit the airport.
Chennai has two main long-distance train stations, Chennai Central (code MAS) and Egmore (code MS), with daily trains from/to Bangalore, Bombay, Coimbatore, Delhi and virtually all other major Indian cities.
